This is the ‘ceverjeria’ in the small village of Fajao in central Portugal. I was at the end of day 2 of my 7 day / 250k solo mountain biking trip and was very happy to find I could have a beer at the end of a gruelling & exhilarating day.
I met these guys who were on a week long walk through the Serra da Estrella - the nearby mountains - and they were from the town of Penela, not far away from Coimbra.
They spoke English and helped me order my dinner. They were getting into the Portuguese brandy and were excellent guys. They were also musicians which was very cool… We talked technology, music and travelling… It was a really nice encounter… One of many in Portugal.
80 cents a beer I might add…
