After dinner drinks in Oslo, but before we went to the Parkteatret…

The point of interest here is that it is pretty quiet because people in Norway don’t go out until about 11pm (in Portugal it was abot 10)… Especially in Winter for the Norwegians… I didn’t understand why until I was reminded of how expensive booze is here, so they all sit around at home getting drunk much more cheaply before going out….

As you do…

PARKTEATRET in Oslo, 15 June 2012

I was in Oslo  for the weekend, arriving on Friday, and my friend Karin took me out to a few bars in the more stylish end of Oslo. Part of the Harry Hole tour (although I don’t think Harry ever drank here!!)

This was a really good one which was an old theatre overlooking a park, hence the name. I really loved the modernist decor with the chairs, banque upholstery and light fittings etc all having a very Bauhaus feel, but not too hard edged. There was a little Japanese or some kind of art deco flavour in there too.

It was a very cool bar.

I should also point out that these pics were probably taken about 11.30pm at night!! Which was a complete novelty and it totally throws out your sense of time and appropriateness! Luckily it did get dark eventually, and I reckon I was home by 2am…

I don’t remember how much NOK it was for a pint…. I was trying not to think too much about it, but if you ever go to Norway…..watch out!
